Changhua County’s Google data center, on a 15-hectare site in the Changhua Coastal Industrial Park, opened in December 2013 as Google’s largest data center in Asia at the time and one of its first two facilities anywhere on the continent. The county was chosen for its strategic coastal location, stable power supply and cooperative local government, and Google has continued to invest there since, including a 2024 deal for up to 300 megawatts of new solar capacity from a BlackRock-backed developer to help power the site and Taiwan’s cloud region.
