Teraco Data Environments is South Africa’s largest vendor-neutral colocation and interconnection provider, operating facilities across Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban that host over 650 carrier, cloud, enterprise and content organizations. Founded in 2008, Teraco built what has been described as Africa’s largest data centre in Johannesburg, and it also runs NAPAfrica, the continent’s largest Internet Exchange Point, giving its facilities outsized importance as interconnection hubs for the region. Since 2022 Digital Realty has held a majority stake in the company, folding Teraco into its global colocation network while the South African brand and operations continue under its own name.
