OADC’s African footprint concentrates heavily in South Africa, which accounts for 11 of the company’s 12 facilities on file across the continent, with a single flagship site in Lagos, Nigeria completing the current portfolio (a separate Kinshasa, DRC facility is tracked on its own country page). South Africa’s dominance reflects both an earlier entry point — OADC’s first core data center opened in Durban’s Amanzimtoti area in 2022 — and a 2025 acquisition of seven former NTT-operated facilities across Bloemfontein, Cape Town, East London, Bryanston, Parklands, Gqeberha and Umhlanga, which substantially expanded the South African count. The Nigerian and South African sites are linked into the same submarine cable ecosystem: OADC’s Durban facility hosts a landing point for the Meta-backed 2Africa cable, while its Lagos site hosts the landing for Google’s Equiano cable, giving the company direct control of two of the continent’s major international connectivity gateways on opposite coasts.
