Claro Data Centers in South America

Claro’s South American footprint spans 9 confirmed facilities across seven cities in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Peru. Brazil remains the region’s largest and most mature data center market, anchored by São Paulo’s Tamboré corridor, which is described as Latin America’s most well-connected data center hub with the region’s largest internet exchange point. Chile has become the region’s preferred hyperscaler destination, drawing Google, AWS and Microsoft on the strength of renewable energy availability and favorable regulation, while Colombia is currently the fastest-growing market on a percentage basis, expanding at roughly 17–21% annually as Bogotá absorbs the bulk of new investment. Cross-border submarine infrastructure ties the continent together: cables such as Firmina, Malbec and Tannat land at Las Toninas, Argentina and connect onward to São Paulo/Praia Grande, Brazil and Punta del Este, Uruguay, while a separate Pacific cable built by América Móvil and Telxius links Guatemala to Chile with stops in Ecuador and Peru. Argentina, by contrast, illustrates a regional vulnerability rather than strength: roughly 95–98% of the country’s international cables funnel through the single Las Toninas landing point, prompting a newer plan to open a second, geographically separate landing corridor in Chubut province.
