Formed in 2021 as a joint venture between telecoms group Liberty Global and investment firm DigitalBridge (with Digital Realty later investing), the company built its initial scale by acquiring twelve Colt Data Centre Services facilities across Europe and later absorbing German operator Datacenter One (DC1). In late 2025 and completed in May 2026, AtlasEdge sold nine of its smaller original sites (in Madrid, Barcelona, Milan, Zurich, Paris, Amsterdam, London, Leeds and Copenhagen) to Spanish operator Templus, deliberately narrowing its focus to fewer, larger campuses such as a 30MW Lisbon campus (with over €500 million in planned investment) and a Vienna campus designed to scale toward 42MW. AtlasEdge’s differentiator is a hybrid model: rapid, modular sub-10MW deployments to enter new markets quickly, combined with larger multi-building campuses aimed at hyperscale, cloud and AI/high-density tenants, all run on what the company says is 100% renewable energy across new builds.
